Police Funeral
A Police Funeral, hosted by the Government of South Australia, to celebrate the life of Brevet Sergeant Jason Christopher Doig will be held at 11am on 4 December 2023 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
The service will host invited guests including dignitaries from across the nation, Brevet Sergeant Doig’s family and friends, fellow South Australia Police members and the wider police family as well as members of the public.
Members of the public are welcome to attend and pay their respects.

Jason’s family have asked for any donations to be made to Women’s Safety Services SA (WSSSA). The not for profit organisation supports women and their children who are experiencing domestic and family violence through a crisis line, services, and programs, including training SAPOL recruits.

About Brevet Sergeant Jason Christopher Doig
Brevet Sergeant Jason Christopher Doig joined the police service in 1989.
He served the South Australia’s Limestone Coast community for more than a decade, having taken up the Lucindale post in 2011.
On 17 November 2023, Brevet Sergeant Doig, aged 53 years, was killed in the line of duty after responding to a call at a property in Senior, near the Victorian border, in South Australia’s upper south-east.
Brevet Sergeant Doig was one of three officers to attend the property and died at the scene. Sergeant Michael Hutchinson was injured. Constable Rebekah Cass was uninjured and provided critical support to her colleagues.
Brevet Sergeant Doig is the first serving police officer in South Australia to have lost their life from a firearm since 1985. His name will be added to the 823 names on the National Police Memorial in Canberra.
On 20 November 2023, state buildings across Adelaide, including SAPOL headquarters, Adelaide Oval, Parliament, Adelaide Town Hall, Adelaide Railway Station and the Adelaide Entertainment Centre were lit blue and flags flown at half-mast.
As a sign of mourning on 4 December, buildings and monuments will be lit blue and flags flown at half-mast.
Brevet Sergeant Doig’s is survived by his mother Faye and stepfather Rob, brothers Brett and Greg, sister-in-law Beth and nephew Liam. Beloved son of Ian (deceased).
