The PFA National Police Bravery Awards was developed for police by police in 2018. While police work is inherently dangerous, some actions stand out. This particular Bravery Award is by the nomination of a police officer wishing to acknowledge a fellow police officer’s exceptional act in exceptional circumstances.
The 2024 ceremony was held in Melbourne on Tuesday 17 September 2024, and the PFA is beyond pleased to announce the deserved joint winners:
New South Wales Police Inspector AMY SCOTT, and South Australia Police Sergeant MICHAEL HUTCHINSON.

Their selfless actions are shining examples and highlight the fierce dedication and courage that helps define the 65,000 plus national members of the PFA, who go above and beyond every single day.
The PFA sincerely thanks the winners and their families for attending the ceremony to accept their award, to Attorney General Mark Dreyfus KC for presenting the awards to the recipients, and to SA Commissioner Grant Stephens APM and NSW Commissioner Karen Webb APM who too attended the ceremony to acknowledge the tremendous achievement of their respective officers.
